UC Education Abroad Program

UC's  Education Abroad Program (UCEAP) in Mexico has offered excellent programs for UC students to study in Mexico. Our partner universities and our UC approved programs are fully integrated to offer UC credit, grades and financial aid. Students can travel, learn and live abroad during any UC academic term—from a summer, quarter or semester, or for the best value, an entire year. Quality assured by UC faculty, our programs are placed in a variety of settings to accommodate learners of all majors, interests and backgrounds. Students will find UCEAP in rainforests, islands, major world capitals, vast classrooms, specialized labs, small liberal arts colleges and leading institutions alike. Our focus is on helping students meet their life goals and thrive long after graduation. Through immersive language study, educational trips, internships and research we invite students to explore new cultures, gain valuable professional training, and become globally conscious and involved. Program options include:

1. UNAM Program (Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico/The National Autonomous University of Mexico)
Recognized as a leading research university in the Spanish-speaking world, UNAM  is located within walking distance from UCEAP's Study Center at the UC's Casa de California (for more information, see here). Full access to courses in all majors during Fall and Spring quarters. EAP Study Center organizes language program to begin and activities in and around the capital. Internships available in human rights and governmental organizations. For more information visit UCEAP's UNAM Program here.

2. Field Research UC Center Mexico City Program
This five-week training in research methods begin at the UC's Casa de California, followed by field research in Oaxaca, Yucatan, Chiapas, Queretaro, or Mexico City--dependent upon the type of project you want to work on. Students work one-on-one with Mexican professor(s) on a research project; and will have a unique opportunity to explore Mexico with unparalleled access to social, political and cultural immersion and distinguish yourself from other undergraduates by obtaining field research experience. For more information visit UCEAP's Field Research Program here.

3. UC EAP Contemporary Mexico
A five-week intensive course with the focus on Contemporary Mexico. It is taught in English, and provides opportunities in Spanish language and cross-cultural reflections. Included excursions provide the opportunity to explore the city and learn of the capital's culture. Please visit here for additional information about UCEAP's Contemporary Mexico Program.

4. Leadership in Social Justice and Public Policy
Students of politics, public policy, business, media and communications or related fields who are interested in Latino and/or bi-national issues will receive leadership training through coursework and experiential learning. During the late summer and fall you study at UNAM and begin an online UC leadership course, then when you return to California at the beginning of the winter quarter/spring semester you assume your internship placement and coursework in the UC Sacramento Center.
